At its meeting on 31st August, the representative council of SAMMAKKO has decided to cancel Loikka Beach Games and Kurnajaiset from the autumn of 2020. The reason for the cancellation is to prevent the spread of the covid-19 epidemic. Loikka Beach Games were announced to be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.
– The situation is unfortunate, but we do not want to take risks at the expense of students’ health, sums up Linda Kolehmainen, Chair of the Student Union Board.
The events are a significant source of income for the student union, but the significance in the university community is even wider.
– Special efforts must be made to group students at such an exceptional time. The student union and SAMMAKKO tutors are constantly looking for new ways and implementations to group new students, says Kolehmainen.
Kurnajaiset is the largest student event in Satakunta. It has been held every autumn since 2000.
