FSHS expands to bachelor’s students on 1 January 2021
The services of the Student Health Care Foundation (FSHS) will be expanded to UAS students from the beginning of 2021. The law was passed by Parliament in March 2019 and will enter into force on 1 January 2021. The aim of the reform is equal student health care services for all students.
Who owns FSHS services?
FSHS services are available to all undergraduate students who have registered for attendance for the semester and paid the health care fee. In other words, Bachelor’s and Master’s students completing a degree are entitled to FSHS services at SAMK. International degree students can also receive services.
What services does the student have?
All FSHS customers have the same range of services, regardless of location. The assessment of students’ care needs is carried out centrally by FSHS. In addition to local reception services, FSHS develops remote and online services.
The service is available through FSHS in Satakunta in Pori, Rauma, Huittinen and Kankaanpää. Full local services are available in Pori and Rauma. The Pori service point’s selection also includes oral health care services, while Rauma has limited oral health care services, such as inspections.
In Pori and Rauma, services are provided by FSHS, in Kankaanpää and Huittinen, local reception services are provided by a partner (to be announced later).
What does it cost?
From January 2021, students from polytechnics and universities will have to pay a health care fee to Kela. When you pay the health care fee, you are allowed to use FSHS services. The health care fee will about 40 euros per semester. Kela will tell you the exact amount of the payment from the end of 2020.
More information on the expansion of FSHS can be read here.
